Toyota Dash Problem Melting Cracking Warranty Extension LSC ZE6

Good Morning,

I have a 2004 4Runner and received the letter. My local dealer (Nalley Toyota of Roswell GA) refuses to place an order for this dash and keeps saying it's on backorder. When I ask them to order one for me, they say they can't and I need to keep calling every week to have the parts department check stock.

They claim they can't order something that's on backorder. That logic makes no sense to me! What do I need to tell them so they can order one for me? I don't care if I have to wait several months, just as long as I have me name on one.

Please help. Thanks!
I would suggest that you contact Toyota Customer Care and open a case with them (save the case # they give you). They should be able to help mediate this concern with the Dealer. What it is you want, is a Repair Order to be opened on your 2004 4Runner showing that your vehicle qualifies for this warranty extension and that a dash was ordered for you. This way it is in writing and not just verbal. I'm not sure why you Dealer is acting this way as it is a very simple process. I hope this helps you and please let us know how it goes.

Update: I went back to the dealership and spoke with a different service writer. Apparently the one I talked to in the past (who is no longer working there) was lazy, incompetent, or otherwise engaged when I asked him to help me...

The new (and very helpful) service writer opened up a ticket and now I'm on the list. He said it may take 2 to 4 months, which is perfectly fine with me...

Thanks!!

That is Awesome to hear! :D Thank you for sharing your story with other Toyota Owners who may be in a similar situation.

Not that I know of. You would have to ask your local Toyota Dealer what the policy is for the Dominican Republic.

My Sienna was approved for the dash extended warranty back in January. I was told the replacement dash was on backorder. It's now April 6th, and it's still on backorder. The dealership says they have no idea when the part will be available. What's the deal? This is frustrating.
On top of this, I had the power sliding door issue years ago and was quoted a $1200 price to fix it. I opted for a $300 "disabling" of the door, so it now operates as a manual sliding door. The car was under the mileage / age requirement for the extended warranty at that time. (I have the paperwork to prove it) When I received the extended warranty notice, I took the car back to the dealer only to be informed that Toyota would not honor it because the car was now past the mileage and age requirement.
How bad is Toyota to treat people like that. They admit it's a design issue but refuse to step up and fix it. Very POOR!

I'm sorry, but I am new on here and I can't see where to post an original question so I am replying to the last one I see. My question is this: I got my letter last year but haven't gotten around to actually going in to see the dealer. Now, I can't find the darn letter. Is it a "must" to have the actual letter? Can I request another one someplace? What should I do? Thanks to anyone who can give me some info!!

Have you called Toyota and asked them about what you stated here? What did they say?

You do not need any letter. Just take your car in and have them inspect and order your new Dash. It may take awhile for it to come in but make sure that they open a repair order and give you a copy stating that the dash is on order. Do not take anyone's word on it, get it in writing from the Dealer.

You will be waiting awhile. Took mine in for this back in late November and still waiting. I do call the dealer every week for a update. The advisor that works with my car says his daughter's car needs one and that he's been waiting since September. Any word on why its taking so long?

We have been waiting on our replacement dash since last June. It is for my 2007 Avalon. The service center we used took pictures, and said it would be replaced when parts came in. Ten months later and LOTS of phone calls later, we were told today that there were no records of anything done. Extremely frustrated does not cover how we feel about the treatment received. I love the Toyota product, but this service might be enough to never buy another one, and to recommend friends not to purchase any.

I have received the notice for the dashboard, and I went to west Kendal Toyota, 1/16/16, for service on my air conditioning, which was not resolved to my satisfaction, and was told I would be on a waiting list for a new dashboard, my question is how long do I have to wait? I have a 2007 Camry? Cecelia Davis

The wait is about a few months but the important things is to make sure that it states on your repair order invoice (your receipt) that you vehicle qualified and a dash was put on order. If that wasn't stated on the receipt, then thats as good as it never happening.
Also, we have seen in some in cases where the original owner had a dash ordered and it came in but they have since sold the vehicle. So we are left with an "extra" dash just lying around. I'd suggest to call the Dealer and see if this is the case, and if one does pop up like this, that you could come in the same day if they would release it to you. Just an idea. ;)

I went to my local dealership in November 2015 to have my dash replaced under the enhanced program. They indicated that they could only do a few per day and that that next appointment was on May 26, 2016. Well, after the approximately 6 month delay I went for my appointment today and was told that the parts have been taking 6-8 months to come in and that my parts were ordered in April 2016. WT#! They could not tell me when they expected the parts and said Toyota would not provide an estimate. They said "we will call you".

I am beginning to think that Toyota has become unreliable when it comes to "enhanced" warranty repairs. It may be more marketing than warranty program.

Greg, I'm sorry to hear about you having to go through this. Did your repair order from the Dealer back in Novermber 2015 state that your dash pad was on order?

I only just heard about the recall and have a 2006 Solara convertible that has had an ugly cracked dashboard for the past three + years. After checking to see if I'm eligible for the replacement I find it's not. Why? It seems totally unfair.
