"Can I call the dealer about replacing the dash if it qualifies without the second notification letter?"
Yes. All owners should not wait for the second letter. What they should do is take their car in to the Dealer and get a repair order written up stating that the dash is on order. Keep the receipt and stay in contact with the dealer.
Unfortunately, right now we are not able to get Sienna dash's or 4runners. These will be available at a later date so please check back here.

I am attempting to get some clarification on the availability of a replacement dash for my 2005 4-Runner. I inquire with the local dealership each time that I get my car serviced. Each time, they continue to give me availability dates that continue to move to a later date. This morning, I was told it would not be available until 1st Qtr. 2016. Something does not seem right about this. The dealership is Flow Toyota/Scion in Statesville, NC. Please provide me some clarification. Thanks.

The reason the dates keep changing is that Toyota keeps changing the dates and pushing the availability back further. This is not the Dealers fault.
One thing all Owners need to do, regardless if parts are available or can be put on order, is to go to the Toyota Dealer, have a repair order written up, stating that your dash is qualified for this warranty extension and will be put on order when they are available.
This is the only way to make sure that you have written documentation about your vehicle. Verbal confirmation will not support your claim that you talked to or had one put on order if the need arises. People forget, quit and get moved to another department way to often for an owner to rely on a verbal confirmation.

how long should I have to wait to get the replacement dashboard so I can sell my vehicle. 10 months since the first letter - 4 months since the second and 3 months since I had the dealer send in the information to get the dashboard.

Just want to share my experience:

I have '03 4runner with cracked dashboard and already received ZE6 notification letter. Local Toyota dealer refused to make dash inspection stating verbally that I have to come and ask next year when parts become available. No papers was provided to cover that statement. I called Toyota Customer Assistance Center 888-270-9371 and they helped me more. I was provided with details of all recalls and warranty enhancements applicable for my car. They also found another Toyota dealer in my area, which will make necessary inspections and open repair orders if applicable. They confirmed that related paper work will be provided as per result of inspections and/or repairs done.

Thank you for your advise - this really help !!!!

I have a 2004 4Runner that has the cracked dash. I've received both letters from Toyota and took my vehicle in to the dealership in Sept for them to order the parts. When I took it in, they told me it would be a couple of months. Today I called and they are saying 4-5 months b/c of the nation-wide back order. Are these parts really that backordered and why? This issue has been known for some time - why is it taking so long to resolve? This is my 2nd 4Runner and although I love the car, I'm becoming very disappointed with the manufacturer's level of service and quality. Can someone please explain why this is taking so long?

Thank you for providing an update and letting other Toyota Owners, who may be experiencing some of the same issues you faced, that following a good protocol can lead to the results you want. Good Job!;)
P.S. Don'y wait around for any letter that Toyota said they would send.
You have all the information you need right jere. 1) There is a warranty extension and a time limit 2) Get it in writing on a Toyota Dealer Repair Order (R.O.) that your vehicle qualifies and that a dash pad is on order. Period

Can someone please explain why this is taking so long?
The short answer is that it just takes that long. Please remember your model year 4Runner, that's covered by this warranty extension, is from 2003-2005. Now think about how many people out there, besides this warranty extension are going to pay for a dash to be replaced on a 10-12 year old car. Not many. There's no need for Toyota to have a lot of these dash pads in stock just laying on the shelf.

Now couple that with the word getting out that Toyota is going to replace your dash pad for FREE even though that your car is 10-12 years old and the warranty ended around 2006-2008. That can be overwhelming for any car manufacturer.

It sounds like you have done all that you can do and now just have to wait till your dash comes in. I can tell you that I have seen a few 4Runner dashes put in recently so they are being shipped to the Dealers. I would recommend that you call the service adviser that originally helped you with this and get a status update. Now do this 1 to 2 times a week and let's see how fast yours shows up.

LOL - ok thanks for that. I guess it's frustrating when this has been a known issue for over a year, and every time I call about I'm told they are on backorder and it's going to be another xxx months before they come. In my case, my dealership said they haven't even seen any 4Runner or Sienna dashes come in yet - just one or two Camrys. I guess at the end of the day, I feel like maybe it shouldn't have happened in the first place. I mean, I have never heard of this happening in other cars, and it wasn't an issue with my first 4Runner.

Sounds great! I can feel your frustration. I can tell you that I have seen a TON of Camry dash pads replaced and just a few 4Runner but no Sienna ones yet. OBTW did you see the newest Toyota recall?
Trust me when I say that Toyota Dealers all around the U.S. are busy with these type recalls not to mention any warranty extensions.

Are you kidding me??? so aside from the dashboard, which isn't a safety hazard, and the floor mat/accelerator (which WAS a safety hazard, but has been taken care of by "shaving off" a piece of the accelerator pedal) now there's a potential fire hazard? You know, I remember hearing about the efficiency of the Japanese process models, but it doesn't sound like those process models are being used quite as diligently as they had been, maybe...? I mean, where was the Quality Control before these cars left the plant? Ah well.

My 2005 Sienna dash is sticky and cracked. I haven't received my second letter to have the dash replaced. My question is, "Can I call the dealer about replacing the dash if it qualifies without the second notification letter?"
Yes, please do not wait around for a "second letter" because you may never receive one. I can you though that I haven't see any Sienna dashes yet as they are not available. This warranty extension is being rolled out in stages, the first stage was the Camry's and now I have see a few 4Runners and next will be Sienna's. What I would do is visit your Dealer and get a repair order stating that your dash qualifies and will be ordered when they become available. That way you have documentation through your Toyota Dealer. :D

I recently purchased a 2004 solara. The dash has many cracks and is so reflective that it makes driving on sunny days difficult due to the reflection of the dash on the windshield. I checked my vin through Toyota and it did not show that my car is covered under the extended warranty for the dash problems. Does anyone have a suggestions..

Checking the recall website by Toyota here will only return recall results and not any warranty extension ones. This dash issue is covered by a warranty extension and you will have to run your vehicles VIN number through the local Toyota Dealer. The next time you stop in for an oil change just ask them to run it. It doesn't take but a few seconds.

I received the initial letter, but never a follow up. My Sienna's first data of use was 02/20/2006, so I'm quickly coming up on the 10 year mark. I'm going to call the dealer today.

You will probably never receive the second letter from Toyota, Owners seldom do. What we suggest is that you take your vehicle in and have them open a repair order stating that your Sienna's dash-pad was...

1) Inspected
2) that it qualifies for this warranty extension and
3) a new dash is on order

These 3 items are critical in making sure that you get your vehicle fixed. Do not take a verbal communication that your dash is on order. If you don't have anything in writing, like a repair order from the dealer, then it never happened.

I received my letter in January 2015, never received second letter. October 24, 2015 took car to Mike Calvert Toyota in Houston, service rep, Alex, wrote up order our repair cracked dashboard from the warrantey enhancement program ZE6. He said the parts would be in in approximately three weeks I have yet to hear from him or Toyota after repeated calls spoke to service today she stated the parts are still not here and it would take 4 to 6 weeks to receive them I told her I had waited two months without any word from them. She forwarded me to the service rep voicemail left message for Alex to return call. I do not want The program to expire before I received replacement dash for my 2007 Avalon. Please help
