Salvage Title- some owners have been turned down for the ZG1 because of the status of their title. Moderator input? is there fine print you can direct us to that mentions that?

I wouldn't think so but let me forward this to Lewis, if he hasn't seen it already.

I can tell you at the Dealer where I work, if the vehicle has a Salvage/Rebuilt title that we will not perform an warranty extension on it. It's the same for the 3/36,000 or 5/60,000. Once its been "totaled", the manufacture standing behind any factory warranty is void. Reading links below...

When You Cannot Get Warranty for a Rebuilt Vehicle

Does a salvage title automatically void the warranty?

There's a reason people avoid these cars. The depreciation value, cannot obtain insurance or if you can it's at a much higher cost, they cannot be titled, cannot get it financed etc. Now there are unscrupulous people who do buy these cars to rebuild them in order to resell to unsuspecting buyers. These are the ones who get mad at the Dealer when we say no to a repair under a warranty extension policy. These policy adjustments are done for customer satisfaction reasons and not for people who want to flip cars for profit.

Hi.
I own 2010 prius and I recently got abs, vcs, park and (!) lights on.
I scanned and it was C1391 error, abnormal leak in accumulator.

I then found this thread and wondering if 2010 is also under secondary warranty or not.

Can anyone help me to find a letter from Toyota if there is on?

Thanx in advance.

Any idea how these issues are reported to Toyota? I have a 2010 experiencing the exact same issues, but it's not covered under the warranty extension letter. I already called 1-800-331-4331 but was just informed that my car is not covered under warranty for this issue.

We had an error message "VSC Warning", I think, come up on our 2006 Highlander Hybrid recently. Then it wouldn't start. Hubs did some research and ended up replacing the battery. At about the same time, an occasional thumping noise would occur when the brakes were depressed - moving or not. The only way to get it to stop is to release the brake completely.

Suspecting that it was an ABS issue and not the brakes themselves, we took it to our mechanic who reluctantly told us we had to take it to the dealer as they were unable to get a reading off of the computer. At the dealership they told us that we most likely were covered by the Warranty Enhancement Program, but that they couldn't do anything without the codes. Said codes were wiped out when we replaced the battery. Dealership claims that the vehicle is still safe to drive.

The noise is getting worse and when even moderate braking (which I try to avoid as much as possible), it creates a jerky stop - almost like it would feel if the brake pads were pressing on an oval shaped brake drum, rather than a round one. Not to mention the thumping. The really loud thumping.

We are not able to afford the roughly $3000 repair on a vehicle with over 200,000 miles on it. But I don't want to be driving an unsafe vehicle waiting for the mysterious codes to appear.

Does anyone know how to make the codes come back? Has anyone else had this issue? A different mechanic recommended that we try taking it to a Lexus dealership.

An update on this post...

after a couple of calls to Toyota headquarters and more discussions with our local mechanic, we called another Toyota dealership about 25 minutes from our home. While we still had not seen the special code again, the sound was still terrible and we continued to hold our breath every time we had to do any hard braking. The new dealership had us bring it in, immediately knew what the problem was and how to fix it.

It was repaired under the "expanded warranty" with no question. Needless to say, we will be driving out of our way to use this other dealership and singing their praises to anyone who will listen.

Sorry to hear this and it looks like you missed it by 1 day. You can call Toyota but they are denying repairs at a 100% rate once you are passed the criteria set forth in the warranty extension.

Thanks for the fast reply, I guess I m the unlucky one that didn't realize Prius have this problem. All this time I thought that sound behind the dashboard after I apply the brakes is the normal operation. Bummer. Look like I gonna break my bank fixing my Prius. If they announce this nation wide with news I would quickly send my car to dealer for repair. Can't even drive my car now with that beeping noise and limited braking.

I just had it replaced on my 2007 Highlander Hybrid. The dealer is now charging me for the repairs because it ended in 2017. I'm 20 days late. Do I have any recourse??? Also this problem arised after the local shop did an alignment, then all the warning lights came on the instrument panel. Are they related?

I have a 2007 Prius and the BRAKE ABS (!) VSC and warning screeching sound just came on about February 12, 2018!
From what I'm reading, Toyota will not go beyond December 31, 2017 by even ONE DAY ?!!!
For a major SAFETY problem with design/manufacture of Toyota's braking system, repair should be done when ever it happens ! They should fix it FREE for continued customer loyalty and to protect their diminishing reputation as a builder SAFE, RELIABLE vehicles!

It sounds like your Prius may qualify under the secondary coverage which is...

After the Primary Coverage end, the Secondary Coverage is applicable for 10 years from the date of first use, or 150,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

Did you check and see?

I also have 2008 with a 1256 brake code with the voltage cutting out when the brake is applied. Toyota needs to extend the warranty to cover a few more years.

Can someone post the address of Toyota USA that a person would use for a lawsuit? Toyota has several addresses and I need to get the right one....
Yes I'm suing them. Maybe more people should take them to court and they wouldn't get away with all the crap they do.

Shelly, holy crap. I JUST found out about this web site, and also am livid. I am investigating what to do now. I don't have a Highlander, but an 06 Tacoma. I missed the deadlines as I was clueless. Talk later. What a mess this is.
