I just left my dealership after having the parts replaced. Buzz noise happened again within 25 min. New parts didn't change a thing. My dealer also did not check to see if the part fixed the car. Enraged about this whole thing.

Our 2019 Adventure has this problem at just over 7k miles. Ours also has the hesitation issue when accelerating from a slow roll. Very disappointed to pay $38k for a car with issues Toyota had to have known about.

We had the same issue and had the parts replaced at the dealership, so far the noise has stopped. Service Manager said it was a TSB TC1902 which called for “R&R of Transfer Case Electro-Magnetic Clutch Assembly. This is the first 2019 RAV4 Adventure my dealership has had to replace, so apparently it doesn't happen to all Rav’s. It took three full days to get the repair done, but like I said, so far so good. We live in Western North Carolina and Fred Anderson Toyota’s service department rocks!!

Hi, I am also a RAV4 AD owner in Taiwan. We have several owners who have the same issue. It looks like you got the issue solved with the right parts replaced. We will tell our dealership to do the same. Thank you for sharing this. You bought the car from TOYOTA Jeff? I watch his videos from time to time. Looks like the dealership he works with is very responsible.

Yes, Fred Anderson owns another Toyota dealership near Raleigh, NC and Jeff’s YouTube videos appear to be from that area. The same owner also has a Toyota dealership near Asheville, NC which is where we purchased ours (previously owned by Jim Barkley). I’ve tried to copy and paste the actual repair receipt but this site won’t let me so I’ll type it in case it helps. Below are the parts they replaced for TSB TC1902
1 41406-42010 Clutch Sub Assy, Ele
1 90301-99240 O-Ring
1 90341-18035 Plug Sub-Assy, Strai
1 90430-A0003 Gasket
1 90311-35056 Seal, Type T Oil
1 90080-17238 Nut, Lock
1 90119-10461 Bolt, W/Washer
1 90521-75002 Ring, Hole Snap
1 08885-02606 Gear LX85 (1L)
Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for sharing the part numbers and the details. I went to the local dealership today and asked for the replacement. However, they said that they need to check with TOYOTA company. So I am still waiting for their decision.

Tech Tip T-TT-0539-19

This Tech Tip applies to 2019 model year RAV4 Adventure/Limited grade equipped with torque vectoring AWD system ONLY.

Some customers may experience a buzz/groan at 20-30 mph when accelerating from a stop and/or at 13-20 mph on deceleration after driving the vehicle for 15-20 minutes or more.

This condition occurs with “Normal” drive mode selected.

Note: to duplicate noise, it may be required to drive vehicle for 15-20 minutes with “Sport” drive mode selected. After warm-up, vehicle must be in Normal mode to duplicate if related to transfer case.
It happens in all modes

This TSB also fixed the hesitation issue when accelerating from a stopped position. I wasn’t expecting it to be fixed especially since our 2016 Corolla had the same hesitation issue. Thought is was an inherent problem with the newer Toyota’s. We’ve owned several Toyota’s over the last 35 years and still believe they are the best.

I had this problem with my 2019 Adventure. They replaced the transfer case - which involved removing the engine of my brand-new car, and then we all discovered that the replaced transfer case did nothing to resolve the issue and because the engine had been taken out and reinstalled, there were a host of other new issues.
They had my car in excess of 37 days and could not resolve my problem, so I lemoned out of the car and got a FWD (XLE Premium) one - a cheaper car than the adventure, but they made me pay mileage on the shitty car I lemoned out of.

I hope all of you give Toyota the hardest possible time and make an efforts to get lemoned out of these garbage cars.

They are really a pretty horrible company. They made replacing their defective vehicle the biggest possible hassle and still made some money off of me for selling me a car they never bothered to finish designing.

Please - all of you - STICK IT TO TOYOTA.

Just took mine in to the dealer and had them confirm the issue and order the parts. There's no ETA on when they'll be available, so sounds like this issue is pretty widespread. That and the tech didn't at all seem surprised by the noise given I had an AWD Adventure. 80k on my last Yota with no problems...this one 3k, which is a bummer.

Not even 3000Km on 2019 rav4 LIMITED abnormal buzz/groan noise accelerating or deceleration in the range of 20 to 40 kmh when warmed up. Diagnosis confirmed by Toyota dealer (T-SB-0065-19). Warranty op code TC 1902 ; R & R Transfer Case Electro-magnetic Clutch Assembly. Dealer parts search turns up none in North America. What is toyota not saying about a quality product ,there quality testing process suggests that let the public find the issues and then Toyota will correct the deficiencies. I agree with all the other negative comments on this web site. Hopefully this issue will not affect any other engine parts before replacement:(:(

I brought my RAV4 Adventure to a local Toyota dealer in June 2019. With 3700 miles, I was also hearing a 'growling' noise at 20-25 MPH. If you do bring your car in, they will likely have you drive with a tech to verify the complaint. I was sure to drive my car for approximately 20 minutes prior and it growled for the tech as expected. The dealership indicated that Toyota is aware of the problem. They stated on the invoice: "I was informed that this is a known issue that is currently being investigated and that the noise occurs when the all wheel drive is coupled and uncoupled with the rear differential, and should not lead to any damage to the vehicle. Once a resolution is reached Toyota will notify the dealers". My concern is this has been an ongoing problem and Toyota is stalling on coming up with a solution. There is no way this was news to them. They had to have known about the problem prior to releasing this years RAV4, yet they chose to sell defective vehicles anyway. Shame on Toyota!! If I could figure out how to lemon out my car, I would in a heartbeat.

My dealership replaced the case, then replaced it a second time. They had my car for 16 days. I am now here this clicking sound when I am breaking. It’s not the brakes but like my car is having a hard time shifting down to a lower gear. The farting noise is gone. What problems did you have after the tried to fix it?

Just picked up my 2019 Rav4 from the shop. Buzz/Groan noise issue. They REMOVED AND REPLACED TRANSFER CASE ELECTRIC MAGNETIC CLUTCH ASSEMBLY/PER TSB006519. DID NOT HEAR THE GROAN ON THE WAY HOME. WISH ME LUCK!

My dealer has contacted Toyota with this same problem but we haven't heard back. Does anyone know what the fix is? We are leaving for a road trip soon and am worried that this won't be fixed before then. Also, I can find information on TSB #T-TT-0539-19 but not TSB 0065-19.
The noise has gotten worse but doesn't occur in sport mode at all.
Had mine fixed today. It’s the clutch assembly. Car stayed all day at dealership. But finally fixed.
