Some 2016 – 2017 model year Tacoma vehicles equipped with a 2GR-FKS engine may exhibit an engine idle surge with steering input. The surge is most noticeable under the following conditions:
*The vehicle is operated at an idle creep speed.
*The steering wheel is turned (i.e., backing out of a garage or executing parking lot maneuvers).
*The engine coolant temperature is low.
Follow the Repair Procedure in bulletin T-SB-0125-18 to address this condition.
The fix is to Reprogram ECM (PCM) Engine. This repair is covered under the Toyota Federal Emission Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 96 months or 80,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.
New Calibration ID's are 8966304B0400, 896650401400 and/or 8966304B1300 depending on your vehicle.
