Scion first <strong>teased the car</strong> in late October.</p><p></p><p>Though the visual link to the Toyota Auris is clear, the Scion iM has been dressed up for show-car duty with a wild body kit, a lowered suspension, 19-inch wheels, a center-exit exhaust, four-piston brake calipers, and "incrediblue" paint with matte silver and gunmetal accents. Despite the enhancements, there's no mistaking that this car is closely related to the production Toyota Auris. A V-shaped grille bookended by skinny headlights leads into a sloping hood, followed by a tall four-door hatchback body, with a narrow liftgate at the rear. The Toyota Auris measures 168.3 inches long and 69.3 inches wide, making it about a foot shorter than a Mazda 3 hatchback and eight inches longer than a Honda Fit.</p><p></p><p>While the Scion iM concept appears considerably more mature than Scion's existing xB and xD hatchbacks, it's still aimed at the youthful demographic the Toyota brand has always targeted.</p><p></p><p>"The iM Concept combines sleek styling with the versatility of a modern hatchback to catch the eye of Scion customers," Scion vice president Doug Murtha said in a statement. "They want a car that provides excitement and individuality, as well as the comfort, technology and reliability that Scion offers</p><p></p><p>It's unclear what engines will power the production version of the Scion iM concept, or whether the car will keep that name when it reaches showrooms sometime next year.
