    The new Toyota Supra was only revealed a few months ago, and it was revealed with a BMW-sourced straight-six. Toyota claims it wanted the new Supra to have a straight-six to retain its heritage but purists and other car enthusiasts ignored this and demanded Toyota to fit it with a 2JZ.

    Toyota didn't choose to fit a 2JZ to the A90 Supra as it's now a design which is nearly 30 years old. This engine wouldn't meet modern emissions or economy regulations either. So Toyota went for the BMW B58 (B58B30M1) inline-six which also appears in the Z4 M40i, the new M340i and upcoming Morgan Plus Six.
